What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is the body’s main internal antioxidant, involved in detoxification and cellular repair. Swallowed, very little survives digestion, which is why it is given by injection. Its role in wellness protocols is better established in theory than in trials, and it is worth approaching on that basis.

What to expect

What to expect

  • Injected, not swallowed — Oral forms are largely destroyed in digestion.
  • One or two doses weekly — On the schedule your clinician sets.
  • Measured expectations — The biochemistry is clearer than the trial evidence.
  • Limited shipping — Currently restricted to Arizona.

How to dose

Inject the prescribed dose subcutaneously once or twice weekly as directed

Risks & side effects

There is no FDA approved glutathione product for injection or infusion, so there is no FDA reviewed safety label for it and no established side effect rate. It has not been approved for skin, detoxification or antioxidant use.

Tell your care team straight away if you get a rash, hives, blistering or peeling skin, trouble breathing, swelling of your face or throat, or chest tightness during an infusion.

This is not a complete list of side effects. Message your care team about any symptom that worries you. What we dispense is a compounded preparation made by a licensed US pharmacy. Compounded medications are not approved by the FDA for safety, efficacy or quality.

Common questions

Why inject rather than take a capsule?

Oral glutathione is largely broken down in digestion, so very little reaches the bloodstream. Injection bypasses that.

What does it actually do?

It is central to how cells handle oxidative stress and detoxification. Whether supplementing it produces noticeable effects in healthy people is less well established than the biochemistry suggests.

How often is it given?

Once or twice weekly, on a schedule your clinician sets.

Why is it not available in my state?

Shipping for this product is currently restricted to Arizona. If you are elsewhere, your clinician can discuss alternatives.
